In Managua, a waste water treatment plant is being constructed to help clean Lake Managua which receives more than its fair share of untreated waste water and stinks to high heaven. Currently there are no waste water treatment plants in any of the capital cities of Central America. With the support of the German government in funding the project, the water treatment plant should be completed by mid 2008 and should show definite results by 2010.
